Situated in the heart of London’s vibrant East End, this former carpenter’s workshop was transformed into a bespoke multi-level living space by Studiomama in 2012.
The furniture is custom-designed, including a full-spec hand-built kitchen with quality appliances. The entire scheme, both internally and externally, has been designed sympathetically to preserve the integrity of the existing structure.
The living area is on the ground floor. One floor up is a bed pod with a double bed, a lounge with work area and a bespoke yellow wet room. Suspended above this area is a hanging pod in the form of a mini house, with a small double mattress and a single mattress. The kitchen is fully equipped with a Quooker boiling water tap, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, oven and hob.
The property is located on a cobbled alley off Bethnal Green Road. The area has a vast array of cultural and gastronomic opportunities, including Spitalfields market, Columbia Road flower market, art galleries, and the bars and restaurants of Shoreditch and Clerkenwell. In addition, the Stratford 2012 Olympic Site is approximately 45 minutes’ walk away, or within a short drive.
The property is equipped with toiletries, towels, and some basic food and household items. Laundry/ironing facilities can be arranged with the launderette round the corner. There is a library of books, from local guides to books on architecture and design. Wi-fi internet is provided; there is no TV but an iPad can be provided on request.
Bethnal Green Underground and Shoreditch High Street station are both a short walk away. London’s airports are easily accessible by both road and public transport – London City (6 miles); Heathrow (22 miles); Gatwick (33 miles). There are rentable city bikes nearby.
£100- £185 per night / £700-£1,200 per week, dependent on season and number of guests
