Set directly opposite the beach on beautiful Arran, St Columba’s Church has been sensitively converted into a magnificent, luxurious holiday home by artist and interior designer, Katie Litton.

Originally a 19th-century community church, at its heart is a vast open-plan living space with original vaulted ceiling and large church windows making it remarkably bright and airy. The windows frame stunning coastal views and invite natural light to stream in creating an atmosphere of space both outside and within. The conversion has been stylishly finished with creative and modern decorative touches to reflect its beautiful environment.

The Church has six double/ twin bedrooms and three bathrooms (one en-suite) downstairs with a smart kitchen and elegant, comfortable living area on the open-plan first floor. A further bedroom, sitting room and shower room are available in the adjoining vestry, as well as additional sofa bed, futon and junior bed in the main house, so there’s plenty of accommodation for extra guests. Outside, the property has a sizeable private garden and parking for four cars.

St Columba’s Church is the perfect base from which to explore the scenery, history and culture of Arran, Scotland’s most southerly island. Immediately on the Church’s doorstep are both the charming village of Whiting Bay and an unspoilt, sandy beach stretching in both directions. Beyond is a diverse landscape, including remarkable coastline, rugged granite peaks and green rolling hills.

For local produce, Kilmory holds a regular farmers’ market and many restaurants specialise in seasonal food; you can also visit Arran’s malt whisky distillery and brewery or witness local cheese making at the dairy. There are regular arts and music events as well as numerous historic buildings to explore. Golfers have seven different courses on the island to choose from.

The Isle of Arran is located off the west coast of Scotland with regular ferry services (50-minute journey) available from Ardrossan, Ayrshire and Clonaig, Kintyre.
If you are flying to Scotland, the ferry terminal at Ardrossan is 35 minutes from Glasgow International Airport, 25 minutes from Glasgow Prestwick Airport and 90 minutes from Edinburgh Airport. Train services operate from Glasgow (55 minutes), Glasgow International Airport (65 minutes) and Glasgow Prestwick Airport (45 minutes) to Ardrossan, timed to connect with ferry services. St Columba’s Church is in Whiting Bay, 15 minutes’ drive from the ferry port on the Isle of Arran.
