This fantastically light and spacious house, designed by the Finnish-born architect Meri Mäkipentti, can be found in a peaceful location in the popular town of Tunbridge Wells.

Currently used as a four-bedroom home, with two studies, it could potentially be used as a six-bedroom property. Internal space centres around the spectacular open plan living / kitchen / dining area. Featuring double-height spaces, full-height glazed walls and a wonderful Scandinavian staircase, this is a remarkable room.

Also of particular note are the wide sun terrace and balcony that can be found off the upstairs bedrooms. Further outside space can be found in the landscaped rear garden and front garden. A driveway provides space for numerous cars and there is also a good-sized integral garage.

Meri Mäkipentti is a Finnish-born architect who has worked on a variety of residential and commercial buildings both in Finland and the UK. She established her own practice in 2002 and now concentrates mainly on private residential projects in both countries.

Tunbridge Wells is one of the most popular towns in the South East, thanks to its historic architecture, ample green spaces, outstanding schools and excellent links to London.

The house is located in a quiet, tucked-away position on the eastern edge of the town, about two miles from the centre and its two mainline stations. A cycle path runs from close by the house into the centre.

The town offers a wide range of boutiques, restaurants, theatres, coffee shops and supermarkets.  There are many highly regarded state and private schools in the Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge area including Kent Grammar Schools. The new Skinners Kent Academy is located about 1/3rd mile away from the property, and Beechwood Sacred Heart School is under 1 mile. Trains run from Tunbridge Wells and High Brooms into London Charing Cross in under an hour. The M25, Ashford station (for the Channel Tunnel) and Gatwick airport are all within easy driving distance.
