The house is set over five floors, with 4 bedrooms, two bathrooms, a study, a kitchen/dining room, a reception room and utility room. Doors from the kitchen open on to the garden at the rear, which has a patio area and a lawn. There are also two roof terraces, one on the top floor and a larger one at ground-floor level.
The interior is finished to an exacting standard, with polished white-plaster walls, modern kitchen and bathroom fittings, and new joinery throughout. The minimalist aesthetic is reminiscent of the work of two of Jonathan Sergison's former employers, David Chipperfield and Tony Fretton.
The house is located at the southern end of Chalton Street, with numerous transport links close at hand. Both Euston and King's Cross stations are a short walk away, offering Underground, national rail and Eurostar services. There is also good road access to the West via Euston Road.
The area as a whole has been the subject of extensive investment and improvement in recent years, including the new St Pancras International and its surrounding area, St Pancras Chambers (currently being converted into a five-star hotel and luxury apartments), and the new offices around Euston Tower. The British Library is close at hand, as is Bloomsbury and the British Museum.
Jonathan Sergison co-founded Sergison Bates in 1996. Based in London, the practice came to prominence with their award-winning public house in Walsall. They have since designed houses, schools, offices and urban masterplans in locations including London, Dublin, Puglia, Malmo, Geneva and Antwerp. The practice was awarded the Erich Schelling Medal for Architecture and the Heinrich Tessenow Gold Medal in Architecture in 2006. Jonathan Sergison has recently been appointed as Associate Professor at the Accademia di architettura in Mendrisio, Switzerland.
