Accommodation includes six bedrooms, three reception rooms and three bathrooms across three floors. There is fine detailing throughout, including oak flooring and open fireplaces. The grounds are particularly impressive, and include a heated swimming pool, a terrace with superb views, large lawns and a vegetable garden. The property was refurbished in 2000 by the architect Gunnar Orefelt of the west London-based practice Orefelt Associates.
Peter Falconer (1916-2003) is perhaps best known as the architect who remodelled Highgrove for the Prince of Wales, although this was something of an anomaly in a career that was largely inspired by American modernism (he visited the country shortly before he designed the house at Minchinhampton) and often focused on industrial buildings. For more on Falconer, see the HISTORY section.
Michinhampton is a town described by the Cotswolds tourist centre as "a very attractive small Cotswold town dating back to the 12th century". A key factor in its unspoilt nature is the fact that it is surrounded by acres of National Trust common land that have served to keep too much development at bay. The town has an excellent primary school and most everyday services. For further shopping and dining opportunities, the towns of Stroud and Cirencester are close by. Stroud and Kemble also have railway stations that run services to London Paddington in approximately 90 mintues.
