Introduction
Accommodation

Sleeps: 6 -7

This spectacular house was built in 1964 by the renowned architect William Cody for the Chicago industrialist and inventor Stanley Goldberg.

Located high in the San Jacinto Hills, the house has a large pool area and fantastic views across Palm Springs and is one of only 19 properties in the exclusive gated community of Southridge. Neighbouring homes include two mid-century masterpieces by John Lautner.

The house has had just two owners since it was built and many fine original details remain. Arthur Elrod designed the original interior scheme (featured in Architectural Digest in 1967). All the furniture and artwork in the home is in keeping with the design and includes original work by Paul Evans, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Richard Schultz and Eileen Gray. The house has been sensitively modernized and upgraded in recent years to include new air conditioning units, large capacity water heaters and an entertainment system, which is wired throughout the house.

The property has an internal area of approximately 4,939 sq ft / 459 sq m. The spacious open-plan kitchen / living / dining room has large expanses of glazing, making the most of the panoramic views. This living space opens out to the pool area, which is paved with terrazzo and planted with orange trees and palms. There are three large bedroom suites, each with an en-suite bathroom, private patio and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The large den / media room could be used as a fourth bedroom.

The grounds are planted with an impressive array of fruit trees, which include orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime, and kumquat, as well as olive trees and a herb garden next to the kitchen. Numerous hiking trails lead from the property into the surrounding mountains.

Southridge is located on a hillside overlooking the celebrated city of Palm Springs and is within reach of the vibrant coastal cities of Los Angeles and San Diego. Palm Springs is noted for it’s rich diversity of Modern architecture, good climate and range of outdoor activites on offer (including golf, tennis and horseriding). The property is near to the Mt San Jacinto National Park, with plenty of hiking opportunities. The internationally renowned Coachella music and arts festival takes place nearby.
