Woodstock Studios Woodstock Grove, London W12 £1,975,000 Leasehold
Introduction Accommodation and images Download floorplan (pdf)
This outstanding live/work penthouse apartment forms part of the former BBC studios in Shepherd's Bush. It was designed in the 1990s by Jonathan Tuckey and Francois Girardin, and was Tuckey's first project after leaving the practice of David Chipperfield.
The flat has an unusual amount of outside space, with two separate terrace areas. There is also underground parking for one car.
Accommodation measures more than 3,000 sq ft over three floors, and is highly flexible. The flat currently has two large reception rooms. The upper reception gives on to a study area, which opens out to a roof terrace. The lower reception is open-plan with the kitchen, and also with the master bedroom. This bedroom is separated using a freestanding privacy screen, and has a large en-suite bathroom and walk-in
wardrobe.
The lower floor also has a second double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. There is a third bedroom on the top floor, which opens on to another terrace.
The apartment demonstrates Tuckey's clever eye for detailing and materials. Of particular note is a curved timber storage unit in the kitchen. The floors are timber, and the windows are a combination of original factory-style metal-framed units and replacement units. The kitchen has bespoke concrete worktops with an integrated sink. Parts of the flat are now in need of some updating.
Woodstock Studios is a mixed-use development with secure gated entry. There are approximately 20 commercial units within the building, with seven live/work flats on top. This particular apartment is accessed via a lift and then a communal exterior walkway that passes the terraces of two of the other flats.
Woodstock Grove is primarily a residential street, with local amenities to be found close by in the Westfield shopping centre. The boutiques and restaurants of Holland Park and Notting Hill are also close at hand. Public transport is found at nearby Shepherd's Bush (Central line & Southern Rail), Goldhawk Road (Hammersmith & City line) and Kensington Olympia (District line and Southern Rail). Open space can be found at Holland Park.
